He just doesn't stop.

Limbaugh: Where are the inexperienced, white liberals Powell has endorsed?

Rush Limbaugh said Colin Powell's decision to get behind Barack Obama appeared to be very much tied to Obama's status as the first African-American with a chance to become president.

"Secretary Powell says his endorsement is not about race," Limbaugh wrote in an e-mail. "OK, fine. I am now researching his past endorsements to see if I can find all the inexperienced, very liberal, white candidates he has endorsed. I'll let you know what I come up with."

As for Powell's statement of concern this morning about the sort of Supreme Court justices a President McCain might appoint, Limbaugh wrote: "I was also unaware of his dislike for John Roberts, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Anthony Kennedy and Antonin Scalia. I guess he also regrets Reagan and Bush making him a four-star [general] and secretary of state and appointing his son to head the FCC. Yes, let's hear it for transformational figures."

I learned in a college "logic" class (ok, skip the impending oxymoronic joke for a sec) that when debating from a weaker position, an ad homonym attack will buy you just enough time to TRY to think of something smart to say--problem is it let's everyone know that you've lost the point and are now just doing the intellectual argument equivilent of a "neener-neener". Attack the person and NOT the point--means the point is in fact true an unable to be attacked on its merits.

its so true. i never really thought about it like that, but how fitting.
i never took logic class. i did take philosophy 101. and my professor wore rose colored glasses (literally). i think she was trying to be ironic.

Ugh--problem is progressive people tend to think most people respond to the world in a thoughtful way--that's why sound-bite politics is waisted on the smart ;-)

Rovian political philosophy is founded on the primary premise that the 'average' uninformed voter is a moron. This is why saying an untruth or a catch phase over and over is utilized. Take the las debate. McCain used it almost exclusively. Don't answer a question or challenge directly--just toss out every catch phase non sequitor in the time alotted and the NASCAR-topor-induced morons will think yer 'tough'. i read this great article about "sticking sound bites" (i'm sure its posted here) and why some things stick and some things don't. and how its somehow completely random.

but i think its fair to say MOST people don't educate themselves. because let's be honest...its not that "i" don't have time for more than a soundbite, or that "i" think my vote doesn't count...its that i'm just not interested.
