These people are ugly. That's right, I said it. The new cast of 90210 are like ALL Steve Sanderses and Donna Martins. EW. They couldn't find ANYONE cute to be on this show? Maybe all the 23 year olds pretending to be 16 years old actors are already on Gossip Girl (which I missed last night. I hate myself).
A couple of things that bother me about the impending new show:
1. why does the 'adopted' kid have the be the african american kid? why isn't the little white girl the foster kid turned member of the family? embarassing racial stereotypes jerks!
2. as I said before, butt-city. I mean, do you expect me to believe that the BEST looking dude on this show is the guy from Melrose Place/Silk Stalkings? (and its not just because I'm old now. I think Nate and Dan on GG are HOT. Chuck is a little too pastel for my taste, but he's attractive nonetheless).
3. I am glad that Lori Louglin has so speedily (sarcasm) bounced back from Full House. But I sort of wanted a homely Jim and Cindy Walsh for parents. Gossip Girl did this same thing; in the books (of which I own and have read ALL), the parents are superfulous and not good-looking. They're sort of ridiculous, exaggerated versions of real people. On the show, they decided to appeal to a 35 year old demographic by creating characters their age? NO. Didn't work; if I had TiVo -- I'd fast-forward all parent stuff. Save it for Nip/Tuck.
4. They're from Kansas. They did this for one reason, and one reason only: to rip off Wizard of Oz lines. Seriously, the writers are not creative enough to come up with "original" Minneapolis lines, so they're from Kansas. LAME.
Predictions:
Within season 1: the dad will have an affair, one/both of the new Walshes will lose their virginity, someone will engage in some sort of typical teen agnst behavior, i.e. drinking and driving, bulemia, not voting -- you know, something really cutting edge, and the season finale: someone will get shot/in a car accident/shivved in the side by a homeless person.
Mark my words.
